- Use sensory language and dialogue to bring people and moments into focus

- Pace a narrative for emotional impact, not just chronology

- Preserve the subject's voice and truth while shaping it for maximum resonance

- You're comfortable working from oral history, research, and interview transcripts as your raw material. You can take "here's what happened" and make it "here's how it felt."
