Job Description:

Our Team

At VistaPrint, we help millions of small businesses market themselves with confidence and bring their creative visions to life. Our Product Experience organization operates as empowered product teams practicing continuous discovery, where researchers are embedded partners helping teams make evidence-based decisions about which customer problems to solve. We're scaling personalization capabilities, making design effortless across our entire assortment, and ensuring our expertise is accessible when customers need it most. This means research spanning everything from understanding how small businesses approach branding across their growth journey to optimizing the interactions that help someone confidently complete their order. You'll work in an organization where product decisions are informed by weekly customer conversations, rigorous analysis, and a commitment to solving real problems for the millions of small businesses we serve

What You Will Do

We're looking for an experienced Director of User Research to scale the impact and operational excellence of our research practice. You'll lead a team of approximately 5 researchers, build the systems that enable high-quality continuous discovery across the organization, and personally lead research that helps senior leaders make better decisions.

This role balances three critical responsibilities: developing your team members through thoughtful coaching and mentorship, establishing research operations that increase quality and speed across all product teams, and leading strategic research projects in ambiguous or cross-cutting problem spaces. You'll work closely with Principal Researchers who are embedded in specific product verticals, ensuring they have the support, tools, and processes needed to thrive in continuous discovery work with their product teams.

You're joining at a pivotal moment where we're maturing from project-based research to embedded continuous discovery across product teams. Your researchers will be in frequent contact with customers, focused on understanding problems rather than validating solutions. You'll have the autonomy to build research operations from the ground up, establishing the tools, processes, and standards that will define how research works at VistaPrint for years to come.

Use mixed-methods approaches to surface insights that create clarity and drive action

Translate complex findings into compelling narratives tailored for executive audiences who need to make decisions quickly

Build and Lead the Team

Manage and develop a team of approximately 5 UX researchers, creating a culture of rigor, trust, curiosity, and continuous learning

Provide coaching tailored to each researcher's experience level and career aspirations, from helping early-career researchers build foundational skills to supporting senior researchers in expanding their strategic impact

Partner with Principal Researchers embedded in product verticals to ensure alignment, remove blockers, and share learnings across the organization

Establish Research Operational Excellence

Build the systems, tools, and processes that enable researchers across VistaPrint to do their best work efficiently and consistently

Develop best practices for participant recruitment, study design, knowledge management, and insight sharing that scale across a distributed organization

Create the operational foundation that allows research to keep pace with product team velocity while maintaining quality

Your Qualifications

At VistaPrint, we are striving to hire individuals that add new ideas and perspectives to our teams and enhance our culture. No matter your background or work experience, we strongly encourage you to apply—even if you feel that you don’t meet the exact requirements or have the same qualifications. You might be a great candidate for this or other opportunities

Experience managing and developing UX researchers, with a track record of building high-performing teams through thoughtful coaching, feedback, and career development

Strong operational mindset with experience building or scaling ResearchOps by establishing the systems, tools, and processes that enable research teams to work efficiently and consistently

Still hands-on: You're a skilled mixed-methods researcher who can lead complex research projects that inform major decisions, especially in ambiguous or cross-cutting problem spaces

Pragmatic and impact-focused. You care about getting to answers that drive decis
